March 30, 2020: Science East’s temporary closure provides new opportunities to learn
In continued response aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19, Science East Science Centre will remain closed until further notice. Future changes to this status will be posted here and on our Facebook page.
Science East and science centres and museums across Canada have closed in support of the current global pandemic. As creative institutions with an enthusiastic love of science, Canadian science centres are now working collectively to share opportunities to learn with quality science-at-home activities, kits, videos, and resources—free of charge. As part of the Canadian Association of Science Centres, our organizations reach 8 million people across Canada in person each year and reach this audience through 1.35 million accounts on social media. This is a fantastic opportunity to support families and communities across the country by sharing interesting and fun ways to learn. Follow Science East on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in the coming weeks as we offer a steady stream of ideas for exploring science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) from across Canada!
Little Explorers is a free program of ages 5 and under accompanied by their parents/guardians/grandparents.
The pre-kindergarten program runs from September to the end of May. Drop in time to explore the Centre’s science exhibits between 9:30 am – 11:30 am. Story time begins at 10:15 am followed by hands-on activities.
In the event of bad weather, Little Explorers follows school cancellation policies.
